Sadly, it appears that another ‘Funeral Plan’ company has disappeared. Leaving its clients with null and void paperwork and little chance of regaining their losses.

We would firstly like to offer our condolences to those who are suffering financial issues due to the acts of unscrupulous individuals targeting the older age groups. Funeral Care Spain would like to make it very clear that individuals should not, under any curcumstances place money into a company that does not have the backing of a trust and abide by the FCA in the UK or similar in other countries. 

Simply put, a limited company or ‘SL’ in Spain does not have any way to safeguard your hard earned money. Monies paid into them are not governed, and can be used as working capital simply to keep the business afloat, pay expenses or buy assets. Which means unlike a trust, where the money is ‘ringfenced’, if the company ceases to trade clients have very little chance of being refunded. 

As independant funeral directors we have no interest in selling these products.

However, we are aware that many people are now at a loss as to how they should proceed in respect of planning against the costs of their demise. 

Funeral Care Spain have held emergency meetings with our suppliers and as a small effort to give some security to those suffering we are offering the following 

Should you, or anyone known to you be in financial distress Funeral Care Spain will be revising our Basic Protection Card Scheme. 

What does this mean?

While we cannot give financial aid, we will, for those that apply to us, give a fixed price funeral cost, held for 10 years. which means that you keep your money in your account,

knowing that when the time comes the price will remain the same and will not rise rise regardless of inflation/exterior costs.

What does this cost you? 

Nothing, bar a one off admin cost of 30€ to cover our administration costs and your membership card
